What to look for at a new build home demo?

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Our long weekend was filled with walks and cycling around London. It’s cherry blossom season and it’s so beautiful. It’s a chilled weekend for us which means time for some blogging! In my 5 tips for the home demo post, I explained what a home demonstration is: A home demonstration or handover is when you buy a new build and the home builder shows you how the appliances and facilities work in your new home.  A home demo is also an opportunity to flag snags that you see as the house builder may be able to fix them before you move in. Our snags were fixed after we moved in and I would have preferred them to have been fixed before we moved all the furniture in! I noticed on Instagram that a common question from home accounts is for tips on the new build home demonstration, such as questions to ask and what to look for. The friendly and supportive Instagram home account community offered lots of useful suggestions when peopl

Our Top Picks For Boxing Day Sales

Hello!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas!  We normally go out shopping on Boxing Day to check out the Christmas sales but this year, I don’t think we are ready to pop out to a busy shopping mall so will just be doing some online shopping!

Sharing on the blog our favourite products that’s on sale at the moment!

1. The White Company Camberley Bed Linen Collection

I bought the Camberley set for our anniversary and it’s one of our favourite bedding sets. The 280 thread count feels so soft and luxurious! It's currently 30% off!

2. Sage Barista Express Bean to Cup Coffee Machine

Hubby bought this last year and uses it pretty much every day, unless we have run out of coffee beans!  If you are looking for great coffee beans, he recommends Workshop Coffee!

He’s helpfully created a list of pros and cons for anyone interested in buying this coffee machine!

Pros:

  1. It has a built in grinder where you can adjust both the amount of coffee and grind size
  2. The steamer is very easy to use and is effective
  3. It’s easy to clean with a pull out tray which catches all the water and just need to empty it every now and then. The pull out tray also has a storage space for tools!
  4. It has the ability to make a single shot or double shot
  5. The start up is very quick, simply press a button and it can be used within a few minutes
  6. It has a built in hot water tap which is very handy if you want to make tea instead

Cons:

  1. The filter needs changing "every 3 months" which can be quite expensive especially when you live in area with hard water.
  2. The portafilter (that comes with the machine) isn’t big enough to hold all the ground coffee so ground coffee always spills out which is very annoying.

3. Dyson Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

We have the V7 version and we absolutely love it!  Hubby now does so much vacuuming. It’s really easy and convenient to use. It's also quite small and compact which makes it easy to store in our flat!

I find the mechanism to empty the dust from the vacuum cleaner super easy to use. I used to really procrastinate doing it for other vacuum cleaners as they were bulky and difficult to empty.

The Dyson V8 Absolute Cordless Vacuum Cleaner - Silver & Nickel is currently on sale! It also comes with a complimentary home cleaning kit!

4. Le Creuset

We received our Le Creuset casserole pot as a wedding gift and it’s something we never thought we needed but once we had it, it’s great and so useful!

5. Tefal 3 Piece Comfort Max, Stainless Steel Saucepan Set on Amazon

Source: Amazon

We’ve had this set for a couple of years and have been impressed by the quality! It’s easy to clean and can be put into the dishwasher which makes it super convenient.

6. Foreo UFO

Source: Debenhams

Hubby bought the Foreo UFO mini for me as a birthday present a few years ago and I love it! It’s a 2 minute facial and very easy to use which is great when life is busy. There’s also a wide range of options in terms of masks. My skin feels and looks great afterwards!

I saw they have the Foreo UFO mini on TKMaxx for £39.99! I have also linked to the Foreo website so you can see the newer models.

7. Ticket to Ride Boardgame on Amazon

Source: Amazon

We have played both the original and the Europe version and think this is a fantastic game to play with family and friends!

We ended up buying the Europe version and it turns out it is more complicated but we love the addition of tunnels to add a twist to the game!

We have played numerous hours of this board game so think it is well worth it!

8. Instant Pot on Amazon

We have been using our Instant Pot for years and it makes cooking a breeze.  I have been raving about it to my friends!

I love that you can just pop all the ingredients in, press a button and let it do its work without having to stay in the kitchen.  I have been able to make delicious meals where the meat is tender and flavourful in under an hour whereas for those cuts of meat, it would normally need to be slow cooked for hours in the oven (such as beef short rib).

9. Clinique Jumbo Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator

Source: Clinique

This moisturiser is my favourite as my skin feels so hydrated afterwards and even Hubby likes to use it! The Clinique Jumbo Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator 125ml is on sale at Harrods at the moment!

10. Habitat Supersoft Country Quick Dry Bath Mat

Source: Sainsbury's

We have tried SO many different bath mats over the years and have been disappointed. We have finally found the perfect bath mat! It’s super soft, fluffy and durable. It also really does dry quickly! Overall, it’s great value.

Hope this was useful! Wishing you a lovely Christmas break and a happy New Year.
